Word Giver Challenge

For our Harvest Christmas Project this year, we’re taking a new approach. Several churches in our area are joining Wycliffe Bible Translators on a mission to make the Bible available in every language around the world. Currently, there are still 980 languages without any part of the Bible translated.


To help change this, Harvest has accepted the Word Giver Challenge. We’ve committed to translating 500 verses from the book of Luke into the Jonam language as part of the Tuzweyo Twake Cluster Project. This project is focused on one of the last nine languages needing translation in Uganda, which will reach approximately 106,447 people. The cluster project includes churches from Tennessee and Virginia, and we’re thrilled to play a small part in this impactful mission.

Word Giver Sunday

On Sunday, November 24th, we’ll be kicking off the Word Giver Challenge with Word Giver Sunday. When you arrive, you’ll see frame stands set up with posters inside, each representing a chapter. We invite you to choose a verse to sponsor by signing your name. If you'd like to sponsor as a family, write your family’s name, or if a friend heard about it and wants to contribute, feel free to write their name down too.


Our goal is ambitious, but we believe in the generosity of Harvest to take on this challenge with full enthusiasm to make His name known! If each person attending Harvest on a typical Sunday sponsors just one verse, that alone would cover 380 verses.

Each verse costs $35 to translate into the Jonam language. For example, translating 4 verses would total $140, while 12 verses would be $420. Any donation, large or small, will help us reach our goal!
