To learn more about Kairos Prison Ministry and what they do, visit their website here!
Kairos is a Christian Prison Ministry that has amazing success at affecting lives within the prison system for Christ through hosting a 3 ½ day Christian Retreat. Of all the residents that have been through Kairos, the number that return to prison after getting out is more than cut in half. One of the treats for the residents is an endless supply of cookies during the weekend. On Saturday night, each man in the prison complex will receive a dozen cookies. You would be surprised how many men get choked up receiving these cookies. Your baked cookies will make a difference in the lives of many men during this weekend. This is a treat for the men, baking them fresh makes the difference, so we do not use store bought cookies.
Are you interested in making cookies for our local Kairos Ministry? Please see below for instructions and guidelines.
***There are restrictions set by the prison that must be followed in order for your cookies to be used and make a difference.
- Cookies can be from store bought cookie dough or homemade dough... Fresh baked is the idea.
- Cookies can be Chocolate Chip, Molasses, Peanut Butter, Sugar Cookies, Butterscotch, Chocolate with White Chips, or Oatmeal (no raisins).
- No chopped nuts, no M&Ms, no raisins, and no topping or decoration on the cookies.
Packaging the Cookies:
- Cool completely before packaging
- Package in 1-gallon Ziplock bags in the following way:
- Stack 12 cookies across the bottom of the bag so that it looks like one roll or stack as you would see in a cracker box.
- Press out the air and close the bag.
- Roll the empty part of the bag around the stack and fasten with 1 piece of tape to keep the stack in the shape of a roll of crackers. DO NOT WRITE ON THE BAGS.
- Deliver all the cookies in a firm cardboard box so that the cookies are not broken or crushed.
Thank you for your time in making a difference in the lives of the men at NECX. One cookie at a time. The love that you have put into your cookies, is the love of Christ.
***All cookies must be brought to the church no later than Sunday, April 20, 2025 * * *
